Birth of British Music 2-cd sets

A quartet of classical greats had anniversaries in 2009: Handel's 250th, Haydn's 200th, Mendelssohn's 200th and Purcell's 350th, all celebrated in BBC2's landmark series "The Birth of British Music".

This series of two-cd sets has been released to coincide with the anniversaries, there's 41 majestic pieces from HANDEL include the Water Music, Messiah and Music for the Royal Fireworks; 28 works by HAYDN include London Symphonies, Creation, Agnus Dei and Trumpet Concertos; 27 pieces from MENDELSSOHN include Midsummer's Night Dream, hymns, songs, Scottish and Italian Symphonies; finally 49 songs and pieces from PURCELL including Dido & Aeneas, King Arthur, Indian Queen, Tempest and the Fairy Queen.
